Some states have details of their House and Senate sessions in the early 19th century (1800's) online. These records are a wonderful resource for those researching their Alabama 'free people of color' ancestry, especially if they were freed in the early nineteenth century.
These "Acts" to free certain people of color listed the 'ex-enslaved' by name, the former slave holder's name and their residence.
