PBS miniseries shines light on Reconstruction era

In 1913, John Lynch wrote The Facts of Reconstruction. He hoped his book would dispel the then-widely held belief that the multi racial governments that took control of the former Confederate states after the Civil War had been a calamitous union of Northern carpetbaggers and ignorant blacks.
