I remember seeing a microfiche collection of 1866 labor contracts...I believe this is part of the extensive collection of records generated by the Freedmen's Bereau.

Freedmen's Bureau records are still unexplored territory for me. I'm under the impression that this huge collection is difficult to research.

Does anyone have experience with researching this collection? Could someone point me towards an artical that breaks down all the types of records, where to find them, ho to go about researching (county level), etc.

I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I am still very cloudy when it comes to this topicc.
