Thank you so much for your response. That was a very interesting and informative history of your family. Now I know the origin of our family first name Delia. I beleive Polly Clack's daughter Delia is possibly the daughter of Col. JJ Williams, just speculation at this point. I realize I must come to the county to further my research. I haven't been to Talla since the death of my grandmother, Lille Mae Williams, (Williams is her married name to a 'northerner") in 1998.
I too looked over the Freedman Bureau records and came across many Alston/Austin records. I'm off to work just now but I'll revisit these records because I think I saw some connections between the names Hawkins/Clack/Austin/Alston/Coleman most of which are my family ties. Yes, it would be great to discover our connection. Would love to meet you in person.
