Clack from Warren County, NC to Talla., Florida
I'm doing research on both sides of my family. My mother's people are the Burgess-Ramsey clan of Tallahassee, Florida. The story of this clan starts with Watson and Polly Burgess being from Leon County Florida and John and Priscilla Ramsey, he being from South Carolina and her from Miccosukee in Leon County Florida. I'm related to both families as 2 Burgess sisters married to Ramsey brothers. My great-grand mother came from this union.
This family worked on a plantation owned by Colonel John Joseph Williams in Warren County, NC. It's possible that they were slaves on this plantation and then after 1865 stayed to work as sharecroppers. Records show they commuted seasonally from Tallahasse to Warren County to work. Polly had a daughter named Delia Williams. Delia was her first born (I think)and she changed last names many times. I beleive that Delia could possiby be the daughter of this colonel who was also a US senator from Tenn.
@ other points, Wilder's parent were Anthony and Sabrina Clack, he died in the 1830's, she died in 1818. The oldes Clack I found so far was Gemima Clack. In 1885 she was 95 years old and still working in the field. She stated in the census she was born in North Carolina and her parents were born in Africa. This is the first time I've seen this in a census. I'm trying to make a connection.
