I have traced my ancestors back to 1870 census and now need to find the
last slave owner and back. I found two slave owners who lived in the
same county (Monroe County, MS) who bear the same last name as my
relations (Ross). I found them in the 1860 and 1850 Census' as well.
What step should I take next? Freedmans Bureau records? Wills/estate
papers? I am a little confused how to proceed from here.
