The Reconstruction Forum is an invaluable resource for Afrigeneas historians. So many clues for our family of researchers can be found here. When I read some of the queries on the main forum, I often think that if they visited this forum, they might find a link here.

Unfortunately the Reconstruction Era has been framed by negative stereotypes. This exhibition and others like it, dispel all of these negative historical mythologies. The spirit of the men and women who contributed to the Union victory in the Civil War (the US Colored Troops and Contrabands) carried over to the Reconstruction era. It was a collective spirit of self determination and striving for equality in a country that they helped to build for many centuries.
