Dear T. Guichard:
I just found your Email address on Leopold Guichard. He was my great, great grandfather too! I would love to exchange information with you. I have pictures of Jules, his younger brother, Leopold & his childrens' families.
Leopold was one of six children fathered by Martin Magloire Guichard (Louisiana Speaker of the House in the War of 1812) & his mulatto slave Victoire. Only four of these children lived to adulthood. After Magloire's death, Victoire & her children were legally freed. They had lived as "free" on Magloire's plantation.
Leopold & his first wife, Marie Hermance Thiac, had five sons. My great grandfather was his third son, Robert Felix Guichard. He was also a Louisiana Legislator during 'Reconstruction'.
Robert's brother-in-law was another Legislator, Louis Anthony Snaer.
Leopold's second wife was Martha Greenshaw, by whom he also had a son, Louis Guichard. I assume you have descended from his second marriage.
Could you send me your Email address & any password(s), etc. needed, so we can exchange information? Thank you for your help. Vicki Schuetz
