Isaac Porter contract William Brown
The state of Texas County of Lavaca
Be it known that the undersigned Isaac Porter have agreed and contracted with Wm Brown both of said State and County as follows
I the said Porter agree and bind myself to work and cultivate in a proper farmer like manner about 30 acres of his farm and about 20 acres of the Cole farm the present season in corn and cotton * I bind myself to be diligent and work faithfully said land so as to produce at least an average crop of the neighborhood and gather and house the same in a proper farm like manner and in due time Wm Brown on his part binds himself to furnish to said Porter ample and broken teams ploughs, and other compliments to furnish feeds for the teams and to furnish a house for his family. Brown is to have for his rent terms the one half of all produce of his land one third part of that raised in the Cole farm and Porter is to have the balance after paying rent for the Cole Farm and it is further understood and agreed that said Brown for have hold and * all of said produce as security and to indemnify him for such supplies as he may furnish said Porter or for any and that maybe come bound for said Porter and that said Porter will not use, remove or sell any of said produce without the consent of the said Brown until said indebtedness and liabilities shall be removed and for that part of the produce that may be necessary to pay said liabilities said Brown shall allow said Porter a fair market prices and further that said Porter is bound to take due and reasonable care of the teams tools and return on good order less the necessary wear and tare . In testimony of which I have here unto subscribed this 12 March A D 1874.

Be it known that County of Lavaca on this day the 12th of March AD 1874 personally came before a notary Public in and for said state and county
Isaac Porter to me well known and after having the foregoing instrument of writing read and carefully explained to him by me he signed the same with his mark and acknowledging that he did so for the purpose and consideration therein contained . In testimony of which I hereto sign and affix my official seal this 12th March AD 1874
