Thanks so much for your response. I'll take your advice and focus on the leads that you outlined.
After the Civil War thousands of Alabama Blacks poured into West Florida as many also did from SC and Georgia to East Florida. But the databases are all skewed toward East Florida.
It seems to be an unfortunate tradition in uncovering Florida archives. For instance the slave narratives don't include the majority of slaves born and living in Florida after the emancipation. The scattered few had a fleeting relationship with Florida. Only one relates to the West Florida black/slave experience.
