It would be useful to know who wrote the text, as well as who organized and attended this historic meeting. Have their names been transcribed from the original document? Was the event covered in contemporary newspapers? Is anyone aware of such research?

I think that such conventions of African-American men were held throughout the southern states after the Civil War to discuss the rights, especially the right to vote, of the newly emancipated citizens.
