Rosa,

You can basically take a test drive with Genealogybank without having to pay. Just go onto the site and do some searches. You will get an indication of what is there on the communities you are interested in.

Although obits are great, you will discover that there is so much more to newspaper research beyond obits, and much of it can be extremely valuable.

Genealogybank has special obit databases; one of which appears to limited to 1977-present. I've never used either of them so I am not sure if you can do free searches. Try it and see.
