In Response To: Re: How to browse for old newspapers? (Juanita Wheeler)
The furthest back I have is Paul Wheeler, born in South Carolina, lived 1839-1908. His son, Henry, was born in 1869, in Clark County, Arkansas and I knew him as well as his brother, Willie. I don't have his death date. I know it was after 1952 since I recall where we were all living after that date, due to the fact that our entire community was moved in 1952 and he lived for a few years after that. We knew Henry as "Professor Wheeler" because he had been a school teacher in the small community where I grew up. My paternal grandfather married one of 'Fesser Wheeler's siblings (Grandpa's 2nd wife) and they had two children. So I have a Wheeler connection, my father's half-siblings. My grandmother was Grandpa's 3rd wife. One of 'Fesser Wheeler's grandsons is an MD here in the Bay Area, but I don't know how much he knows of his history. He is younger than I am.... I remember when he was born. :-(
