In honor of Black History Month, the University Archives and West Florida
History Center is proud to announce the online availability of issues of
the Colored Citizen, a black newspaper published in Pensacola between 1914
and 1958. The University Archives and West Florida History Center holds
the largest holding of this rare newspaper in America, based on the Library
of Congress National Newspaper Program and the Florida Newspaper Program.

This newspaper is exceedingly rare. Though it was published weekly, we
only hold seven complete issues. We are interested in adding to this
collection and if anyone has copies of the paper or even parts, we would be
interested in digitizing them and adding to the holdings. Questions may
be directed to Dean DeBolt, University Archivist, at 474-2213 or by e-mail
to ddebolt@uwf.edu.

The issues by be accessed through: http://ir.uwf.edu
Click on the West Florida History Center, then Newspapers.
