African American Newspapers Forum
Genealogists growing up in the age of digitization, may not be aware of the rituals that played out (and is many places still do) in local libraries and genealogical/historical societies nationwide where material, often from newspapers, ended up in "vertical files" in file cabinets. This was/is often unique one of a kind info and won't be digitized anytime soon, if ever. In so many of these collections are random folders related to the African American community.
Historian and genealogist for hire, Chris Nordmann, points out examples of such news clippings in several blog posts.
