I understand your excitement. In my book on black newspapers I talk about finding mention of my dad's birth in a social column sent into the Chicago Defender from a tiny community 60 miles away--it was so cool. No local paper seems to exist that reported this event back in 1923, so thank goodness for major black newspapers that encouraged towns and villages to send in their news.
