I totally agree. I found the digitized copy of the Norfolk Journal & Guide 1921-2003 in my local library and broke down a few brick walls that had references to my relatives in Virginia, the Carolinas, DC...etc. I've found married names & locations of female ancestors already in my tree, along with birth, marriages, obituaries, articles and club info. I even found articles and pictures of me at middle, high school and Norfolk State College, now University. Historic Black Newspapers are a goldmine for family history research.

Most newspapers today do not carry social club news, travel news, marriage license issued. I was surprised to see a list of names of those who paid "poll tax" in the Journal and Guide published area.
