As researchers we need to be on the lookout for community traditions such as annual picnics or homecomings where folks that moved away, travel back for a weekend. The mention of such an event in the Illinois town of Taylorville could be instrumental in uncovering ancestor migrations, and just as important, who their friends and neighbors were.
