There is a public tree on Ancestry.com put up by eb72740. The associated photo is that of a man who just might be the little boy in the newspaper photo, Ernest Burgess Beam. His username, eb72740, matches both his initials and his date of birth, according to public records on Ancestry.com, 7 Jul 1940.
A WW2 Draft Registration Card for Ernest H. (Harding) Beam matches his Kentucky birth, nearest relative Ethel Mae, and his occupation of "Waiter". According to eb72740's tree, Ethel Mae's maiden name was Stroman and was born 1910 AR, died 1971 LA.
Ernest Harding Beam's parents were Hines Beam (1844-1914 KY), and Mariah Porter (1845-1915 KY). Hines Beam's parents were Solomon Beam (1820-1873 KY) and Sharlotte Dodson (1824-1877 KY), according to eb72740's tree.
Ernest H. Beam, the waiter-songwriter, was born between 1882 and 1895, and died in 1964. According to the 1920 Census for St. Louis, MO, he was a waiter for the "Railroad" (a porter?).
