African American Newspapers Forum

Re: African American Newspapers Guide- online

I also would like to know if anyone has used it. This product has been out for quite awhile, however, I rarely see it in my travels to university libraries and elsewhere.

On the surface, there appears to be a lot of overlap between what is in this collection and what Genealogybank has; not much new that would make me actively seek it out.

The link below is to Readex, who owns/distributes the product, and once you get on the page you can click on the title list off to the right.

As with any newspaper database out there, we are always interested in knowing where it can be found, so sound off folks if you are aware of institutions that subscribe to it.

Has anyone used the database "African American Newspapers 1827-1998?" You can access many AA newspapers for free using that database. The problem is, there don't seem to be too many libraries that have it yet. I discovered it at Indiana University. I believe that the New York Public Library has it and some other university libraries. It is worth contacting the universities near you to ask if it is available.
