Great example of the types of valuable information that newspapers provide.
My questions are:
1) Is the Union-Recorder a black or white paper?
2) Where was it published?
3) What section of the paper did this come from? Was it the local news section or a social column from another city/town? The tagline/byline that would give the name of the place where the story is from would of course be important, especially in this case when the reporter stated that the groom was "of this city".
My initial guess is this is a white paper due to the phrases, "among the negroes" and "most intelligent of their race."
