Re: Kalamazoo Gazette
In Response To: Re: Kalamazoo Gazette ()

Hello Tim,

Not Robert, but I believe the Kalamazoo Gazette was founded ca 1834 and has been published continuously from that point and is not an AA newspaper.

While you are helping your friend in researching the Kalamazoo area would you keep an eye out for BURNETT & RENO surnames. BURNETT'S appeared in Comstock, Kalamazoo Co., MI in the 1860 Census from NC and they married into my family of RENO cousins ca 1900-1905.

Also of note and continuing the earlier Newspaper Forum discussion of AA Barbers. RENO men were barbering in Medina County, Ohio as early as the 1840's. Some of them later moved into Saginaw & Kalamazoo Michigan as Barbers by the 1870's.

Thanks,
Art
