Good news! I found a relative in the Social News section of the Canton Repository for December 1916. Gertrude Goins married DeVoe Bassett and it says they moved from Canton to Oil City, Pennsylvania after their nuptials.

Her father Roswell James Goins, a brother of my 2nd great grandfather, Robert Goins. Roswell died 23 December, 1912. I haven't located any information about the death of her mother, Elizabeth Muerrells-Goins. What I can say is that this family received a ton of press from the Canton Repository and Cleveland Gazette. I have to sift through more stuff on genealogybank.com

PS. Tim what was the name of the paper you mentioned? Was the Freeman or something similar?
