This is actually a social column written by someone in Mt Vernon for the Gazette. The Gazette and a number of other papers tried to find community members in towns all across the state and region that would gather and submit the local happenings for print. You are fortunate in that The Freeman out of Indiana also printed Mt Vernon news. You should do a comparison and see if it is the same correspondent, or if you have another set of juicy information on your ancestors!

As far as pdf to jpg, I feel your pain!!! I have the standard Adobe program on my primary work computer at home, and I have to go to my PaperPort software program on my laptop to convert my pdfs--transfering files via a thumb drive or email. It has become an aggravating time waster.
