In Response To: Daniel Rudd~American Catholic Tribune ()
Rudd also convened the first Colored Catholic Congress in 1889 in Washington, D.C. Congresses were convened in 1890, 1892, 1893, and 1894. These congresses were the first national gatherings of the nation's colored Catholics. The concept of a National Black Catholic Congress was revived in 1987 and have been held every five years since then. The next will be convened in 2012. Daniel Rudd was born in the "Holy Land" of Kentucky, the area near Bardstown and Lebanon where dozens of Catholic families settled.
