Thanks so much Art for your thoughts and I am grateful to learn of your family's connection to the Indianapolis Recorder. I am very impressed with your 1843 ancestral connection to a newspaper. My earliest ancestral connection to a newspaper was finding the letter of my great great grandfather, Thomas Cole of Princeton, Indiana, to the editor of the Provincial Freeman, a Canadian abolitionist newspaper. The letter was dated February 2, 1857, and appeared in the March 7, 1857 issue of the newspaper. The editor of the paper was an African American. Messages In This Thread
