I have been quite impressed with how rich the data is from other states in a paper such as the Chicago Defender. I have used it and typed in my hometown and found some amazing articles that were submitted by local people who regularly reported events that took place in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Prominent visitors to the area, as well as social events and even obituaries are there.
It was interesting to see an obituary about the city's first female teacher, and learned about the services for her funeral and where she was buried. In addition, I was surprised to see articles from very small communities in the state, that were featured quite often on the Defender.
