Let me be clear: I did not take your comments in a negative way, and I did not think you were maligning this individual in any way.

The article title uses the word veteran but I think that the majority of those reading the article are in agreement that the term is applied loosely here and that was the point I was trying to make--that he was a "veteran" of battle but not a confederate uniformed soldier.

Sorry for the confusion.
