Please, my comment was not directed, or meant to, denigrate the valor, courage or experiences of Mr. Wash Herron during the Civil War. It was directed toward the use of the word veteran in the article. And how it may be used today in declaring Mr. Herron a "Black Confederate Soldier".

Many persons of color experienced the battles of the Civil War, South and North, but in my opinon veterans are soldiers, Union or Confederate who served during the Civll War.

Just an observation and an opinion
