Re: Tuskegee Airmen
In Response To: Re: Tuskegee Airmen ()

Robert,

I really enjoyed viewing that clip. It was wonderful to hear George Lucas state that this was only a 'snapshot view' into the history of the Tuskegee Airmen. And to explain that there is so much more to their story. Hopefully the movie, Red Tails, will generate interest for a deeper study and appreciation for the Tuskegee Airmen.

For an in-depth picture on the history of the Tuskegee Airmen may I suggest Mr. Bennie McRae's site and this webpage.

An interesting and often overlooked sub-theme to this story is the fact that many of the Tuskegee Airmen had ancestors who fought through the same racism and bigotry to participate in the Civil War and WW I. Another shared legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen.

Thank You Mr. George Lucas for the movie and thank you Robert for directing us to the 'clip".

Art Thomas
