AfriGeneas at the Movies

Re: The movie: Precious,Training Day, etc.

Sadly it's true, they are given awards for either negative or music roles.

I do agree, blacks are now in position of making these movies, and people argue "Why they have to have a black person do that?" Well, This is 2010, There's Nothing Wrong With The Black People PLAYING the roles Speaking Up, THEY CAN DO THAT NOW, YOU KNOW? I don't see/hear them complaining. This is not 1950s, if Denzel has a problem portraying a bad cop in Training Day or a true life gangster in American Gangster, then he can speak for himself.

But I have to admit, the best roles and best performances I have seen black people play, ARE music and bad guys. I guess we can't forget about comedy, as that's another role for blacks that seem to get more attention. Denzel Washington once said he loves playing bad guys (I believe it was him who said it) because there is more lines and more attention to the bad guys. What can you do, when you want to make a racist issue out of everything, and a black person likes playing those roles, And appreciates the attention/award they get from it.

Instead of complaining to whites how they stereotype blacks, Complain to Your Own Black People Who Stereotype THEMSELVES!!!
