Some would say that she was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, yet a product of New York and Jamaica born on Dec. 30, 1956. In 1973 crowned Miss Black Teenage in NY. She got an award in the musical Dreamgirls in 1982 of which she played Deena Jones. She played in such tv roles of Moesha and Designing Women. She played also in Sister Act II. One part got me when I saw her play a tough sister in the 1977 movie A Piece of the Action that starred also Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby.
