Re: ROBIN ROBERTS AT TUSKEGEE'S MOTON FIELD
In Response To: ROBIN ROBERTS AT TUSKEGEE'S MOTON FIELD ()
Hello Bennie: Thanks so much for sharing the story of Robin Roberts. It was very inspiring. I was in France when I read your posting. Your message about the African-American military came at an important time during my stay. I chatted with several friends about African-American history, especially about our contribution to the military. Don't be surprised if you receive e-mails from France. During my "discussions" in almost every other sentenceÉ I pointed to your website and the Afrigeneas Military forum as documented references to our ancestors' active participation in shaping American history. It's a shame that the only images that Europe has of our history is the present day menacing images of TV's rap "artists". Many found it incomprehensible that Blacks fought in the Civil War. In addition except for the fleeting memory of the occasional African American GI during W.W.II, many never realized that we took an active part in their liberation from the Germans. And for that matter, W.W.I. It was impossible to share so much of the African-American contribution to US and world military history in one conversation. So I proudly shared the url of Lest We Forget and Afrigeneas' Military Forum with them. Thanks again for the story of Robin Roberts. K Wyer Lane
