Re: A Cautionary Tale! Gen. Almond's exit
In Response To: Re: A Cautionary Tale! Gen. Almond's exit ()
Lloyd, thanks again for a great response and for putting this history in perspective. It is mind boggling on why it took 38 years for First Lieutenant John R. Fox, 366th Infantry to be Posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, and another 50 plus years to be awarded the Medal of Honor. Sorry to say this, but if he had been other than black an article with photo would have been published on the front page of every newspaper and cover of every news magazine in this country after he called to fire on his own position, knowing he would be killed along with hundreds of Germans soldiers in his immediate vicinity. Oh well - it is left up to our and future generations to make sure the legacy of Lieutenant Fox, other heroes and heroines continues.
