Shelton is doing a great job at Yosemite-and has worked very hard to bring out the history of the infantry and cavalry at Yosemite and Sequoia. Check out the Yosemite NPS website-for a great slide presentation. It's a very little known part of Black military history during the 1890's, and was the only known area where they were assigned to a National Park area.

I'm in contact with him and we're trying to flesh out the lives of some of these men. Many enlisted from the Phillipines, and from all over the US. There is going to be a lot to tell!
