Army Staff Sgt. Tamika N. Reed was decorated with the Army Achievement Medal.

The medal is awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces, who while serving in any capacity with the Army in a noncombat area, have distinguished themselves by meritorious service or achievement.

Reed is a transportation management coordinator at Camp Red Cloud, Uijong-Bu, South Korea. She has seven years of military service. She is the daughter of Angela and David Reed of Anniston. The staff sergeant is a 1990 graduate of Anniston High School.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Tyrone Hardy, son of Katherine Hardy of Lineville, recently departed for a six-month deployment while assigned to the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, home based at Mayport, Florida.

Hardy is a 1985 graduate of Lineville High School and joined the Navy in Aug. 1985.

Navy Seaman Johnny B. Elston, son of Julia Elston of Anniston, recently departed for a six-month deployment while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, home based in Norfolk, Va.

Elston joined the Navy in January 2003.
