Dear Mr. McRae,
It has been a long time. I hope that all is well with you and yours. We are still working on getting a monument sculpted and erected in memory of the 1st Kansas Colored Infantry. We have received a sizable donation from Laurence Fishbourne and from "The State Historical Society" in Columbia Mo. As well as being elected as a candidate to receive the "Paul Newman Award" which is a donation of $10,000. We are very excited about this and because we had not been in contact with you we wanted to let you know of our progress and once again tell you what a pleasure your presence was when you were here to fellowship with us. We hope that it will not be your last visit. The invitation is extended and we hope that you will accept, at the appropriate time and be here with us when we are able to celebrate the success of being able to erect the fruit of the works of many in the form of a sculpture. Please keep us in yours prayers as we will you and yours in ours'.
Sincerely,
