A report from a member of the Research History Class, Washington Senior High School, Washington Court House, Ohio.

I am happy to inform you of two sailors on board the Tuscumbia. I was able to locate William H. Wright and John Manely in the database as African American sailors on board the U.S.S. Tuscumbia. Wright was a "Landsman" and Manley was an Officer's cook. They were both killed in action at Grand Gulf.
We are still tracking the U.S.S. Lafayette on its course through the war. Eventually, we hope to be able to make an accurate timeline for that vessel.
