Hello Afrigeneas Military Forum Members:

Ever since I heard "My Buddy" sung as a eulogy to veterans who passed away, I've been curious as to its significance or connection to the military.

Briefly, I attended the 761st Tank Battalion Veterans Reunion in Atlanta a few years ago. During their very moving memorial prayer ceremony, the veterans sang "My Buddy". "Nights are long since you went away, I dream about you each night and day....My buddy, My buddy...your buddy misses you...etc." Is this a song connected to all military or just the 761st?

No one in the 761st could tell me if the song was sung at other military ceremonies. Perhaps someone knows.
