Re: Info on WWII vet
In Response To: Re: Info on WWII vet ()
Hi Crystal, I had another thought, I posted this on the main forum and copied it over here for you. I just got the discharge papers for my WWI grandfather and there is a lot of information in them! Hope this helps, Lee Repost from Main Forum: I've been collecting military records for my family in Pittsburgh, PA. My dad told me that Allegheny County has a Veterans Bureau where he filed his discharge papers after Korea so that he would qualify for state and county benefits. I called the Vets Bureau who told me to contact the Allegheny County Recorder of Deeds (412) 350-4220. I called them yesterday, asked them for my Grandfather's WWI discharge papers, gave them his name, birthdate and place, branch and dates of service and my telephone number. They called me TODAY and told me they were mailing the discharge papers this afternoon, FREE of charge! Look to see if your County has a similar service. Good Luck, Lee
