On behalf of The Committee to Clear Chaplain Plummer, we are soliciting letters of support from Civil War Reenactment Units and individual members urging the U.S. Army Board of Corrections to look at the Henry Vinton Plummer case, making clear the organization's unique perspective as students and re-enactors of the Afro-American Civil War experience and its passionate interest in the treatment of this Civil War veteran.

Letters should offer the following information (not necessarily in this order):

1. Identify the organization or yourself as a concerned citizen of the Plummer family’s native community, a Civil War or Black military history student or authority, etc.

2. Note that since you've learned the details of Chaplain Plummer's
court-martial, you want to clear his name, and give any reasons you may have as to why. (You could--but do not have to mention that you support the efforts of the "Committee to Clear Chaplain Plummer" as a means of accomplishing this task.)

3. Request that the U.S. Army Board of Corrections consider the case
fairly, honestly and on its own merits, reverse the decision of the
court-martial, reinstate Henry V. Plummer as a chaplain in the U.S.
Army, and issue an honorable discharge.
