This post is somewhat late - on vacation. Thanks Bennie for your words re the Buffalo Soldiers. The last paragraph of your post sums it up succinctly. I would like for the true historians of African American Military History to identify themselves, and post a brief Curriculum Vitae of their scholarship, and accomplishments. A short Bibliography of their publications would also be helpful. To tell me that a story or statement is a myth, exaggeration or lie is not enough. Cite the sources/publications that carry the truth and where to find them. To "wax eloquently" is not enough. To ask provocative questions is an excellent method of historical analysis.
To banter back and forth tend to diminish the importance of the African American Soldier's contribution and sacrifice in helping to create a nation that at times did not want their help. If our African-American Military History is fraught with inaccuracies and fallacies, why not create a site entitled "Myth and Inacurracies in African-American Military History through all Wars". List the inaccuracies followed by the truth, and if there are conflicting accounts, then list them all. Similar efforts have been completed, and are on line. Namely, "Myths in Mayflower Genealogy".
