Question #2.....STATE FROM WHERE HE SERVED
Situation: 3rd great-grandfather served in the CW with the 32nd USCI,
Co. K.
The 32nd was organized at Camp Wm. Penn in Chester County, PA, My ancestor was from Sidney, Shelby, Ohio. Did he serve from PA or OH?
I got his information from the Grave Registration Record (GRR) of USCT's buried in Ohio. His burial location is in the Barnett Cemetery, Shelby County, Ohio. He died 31 Jul 1877 and his wife had already passed away, 20 Oct 1874, so there wouldn't be a record of a pension request.
So I'm requesting the Military Service Record, is this the right track?
Thanks to Mr. Paul LaRue and his Senior High School researchers from Washington C.H., Ohio I received a copy of the GRR which stated Name, Unit (Reg/Co), date and place of birth, death date and burial site, and next of kin at time of death.
If you have an ancestor who served in the CW and they may be buried in an Ohio Cemetery take a look at the Washington High School site found on the "Lest We Forget" website.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
