Re: Civil war USCT records
In Response To: Re: Civil war USCT records ()

: Richard and Bennie, there were four solders listed with the name of
: "Arthur Stewart." One from each of the following: 5th
: Regiment Camp Delaware Ohio (127th Ohio Volunteer Infantry)
: 73rd Regiment - New Orleans, LA
: 96th Regiment - New Orleans, LA
: 127th Regiment, Philadelphia Penn

: Since my ancestor was born in SC (according to census records), I
: would think that the two New Orleans regiments most likely. I
: don't know if he received a pension (SC had no record of him
: serving). I have the Form 86; I sent one in for another ancestor
: and the information I received as a result of that search is not
: conclusive that he is mine. Should I send the Form 86 or take a
: chance that he filed for a pension and send in the Form 85? I
: really appreciate the guidance on this from you guys.

: Alice

In this case suggest you submit (4) NATF Form 86 for the military service records of the soldiers which should list the county and state of birth, then submit NATF Form 85 for the soldier or soldiers born in South Carolina.
