In reference to the last Buffalo Soldier the 10th cavalry was stationed at Fort Ethan Allen, Vermont in 1910 it would not move to the border until 1913. Newspaper writers would still refer to these soldeirs of the 9th and 10th as Buffalo Soldiers throughout this period. The 10th would in 1911 while stationed at Ft. Ethan Allen would make the Buffalo part of its coat of arms and in 1922 the Buffalo would become the D.I. used by the regiment even to this day.The 9th and 10th were active until the later part of 1944 when the units were deactivated in the case of the 10th on shipboard not far from North Africa and the 9th in North Africa. Both regiments were reactivated in 1957 both would see service in Vietnam. Both units in parts are still active in 2003 carrying on a proud and rich history.
