Thanks K. Wyer, I really appreciate all of the info and I'm definitely going to look for the book. As far as I can tell, Uncle George served in Europe, and played either the trumpet, the trombone or the tuba: from what I can tell he played all three I've decided our elders like being coy. I found a picture of his wife, my Aunt Jo, standing next to Martin Luther King! I searched on the web and on the West Virginia Archives site there's Aunt Jo, right next to Dr. King and it says she had dinner with him and a few relatives at her sister in law's house. She died 3 years ago and as far as I can tell she didn't tell ANYONE in the family about that dinner. I spent quite a lot of time asking about family stories, we even have her on video tape, and this is one story she didn't share. C'est la vie. Anyway, thanks so very much for the assistance.
