Civil War Veterans' Card File, the soldier's service record cards archive is now on line at the PA State Archives. These 3x5 cards were used to index Samuel Penniman Bates' "History of Pennsylvania Volunteers, 1861-1865"

According to the PA archive website, "The information generally includes the soldiers' names, military units, Bates' citations (volume and page), ages at enrollment, descriptions (complexion, height, color of hair and eyes), residences and birthplaces; the dates and places where enrolled; the dates and places where mustered in; and the dates of discharge. The listing is not inclusive."

I found the cards for my USCT civil war vet ancestors, but my cards didn't contain much information. Perhaps, you'll find more.
