Hi All,
I am new to this part of AfriGeneas, but I wanted to post a link that is helpful in finding Civil War Ancestors. The Book is called History of Pennsylvania Volunteers By Samuel Bates and the entire thing is on line at the Making of America site. It is a complete list of all the muster rolls for Pennsylvania Civil War Soldiers including the USCT. The index is not very helpful, but if you know your ancestor's regiment you can go right to it. It has name, muster in and out dates, any injuries and other comments. It also has regimental histories.
Here's the info on the book:
Author: Bates, Samuel P. (Samuel Penniman), 1827-1902.
Title: History of Pennsylvania volunteers, 1861-5; prepared in compliance with acts of the legislature, by Samuel P. Bates.
Publication date: 1869-71.

When you get to the site, search for title and put in Pennsylvania Volunteers. It'll come up and then you can browse.
Enjoy,
