Agreed. You will also find isolated Black individuals who were enlisted in the regular Union army prior to the organization of the Bureau of Colored Troops (May 1863)But isolated individuals do not an army make. Once again, look at how the CSA units were initially formed-primarily from PRIVATE companies organized, clothed and armed by wealthy individuals. The CSA did not have a standing army to build on. Other than state militia, veterans, members of military academy classes, and men who had been active in the army/navy before secession, that was the makeup of the southern army. Remember also, it was ILLEGAL for a slave or freedman to be armed until previously mentioned orders and acts.
