On Friday, May 23, 2003, at 7:00 pm, Close-Up on C-SPAN will air "The Role of African-American Soldiers in the Civil War." The panel discussion, moderated by John Milewski, will highlight the comments of Dr. Frank Smith, Dr. Russell Adams, and Mr. Paul LaRue. Dr. Smith is the founding director of The African American Civil War Memorial Freedom Foundation in Washington, D.C. Dr. Adams is the chair of Afro-American Studies at Howard University. Mr. LaRue is a high school history teacher at Washington Senior High School in Washington Court House, Ohio.
